Our 1st annual meeting ‘Building Bridges’ was held on Thursday the 3rd and Friday the 4th of November in Nijkerk and was well represented by the InSciTe Community.

During this vibrant 2-day event, the two InSciTe research lines, Biomedical and Biobased, presented their running projects to almost 100 attendees. Among the attendees and speakers were the InSciTe staff, researchers and representatives of a.o. Xilloc Medical, Neuroplast and Fujifilm Manufacturing Europe B.V.

Next to keynote lectures and divers project presentations, there was also a ‘Poster Session’, in which each project presenter could present its objectives and merits on a single poster. Brightlands generously granted a Poster Award, for the best project, based on the assessment of a jury. Additionally project presenters could win a Presentation Award, for the best presentation. Both awards were given in the closing session on Friday.

The Brightlands Poster Award was given to Panos Kouris (TU/e), who achieved the highest score from the Jury with his poster ‘Developing a feasible process for 2G-lignin conversion into biofuels and chemicals’. The Brightlands Presentation Award was given to Ashley Heuijerjans (TU/e) for her presentation ‘Investigating the Biomechanical Effect of a Polymeric implant on the Surrounding Cartilage Tissue’.  The € 500,- prizes were awarded by Emiel Staring, Managing Director of Chemelot InSciTe.
