How InSciTe is increasing impact on their 3rd Annual Meeting

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 and 3 October 2018, the 3rd Annual Meeting ‘Increasing Impact’ took place in Parkhotel Horst, the Netherlands.
Around 120 delegates from Academia such as Maastricht UMC+ and TU/e as well as from (startup) companies including DSM, TNO, Yparex and Vertoro were present.  We offered our guests a two-day scientific meeting, complete with guest keynote speakers; Bert Sels from KU Leuven, Emiel Hensen from the TU/e, Ludo Diels from VITO and Len Pinchuk from InnFocus,  poster pitches, panel discussion and a vibrant social event. Our second day had a preliminary internal focus where our researchers presented their work within the biomedical and biobased programs.

Annual Meeting

Our handpicked expert jury scored the presentation and posters that were presented by our Young Researchers.  As every year, the best poster and presentation prizes were awarded. Brightlands generously sponsored these Poster and Presentation Awards, which were handed out in the closing award ceremony on Wednesday.

The Brightlands Poster Award was given to Carin Dietz (TU/e) who achieved the highest score from the Jury with her poster ‘Development of new extraction solvents for furfural isolation from aqueous solutions’. The Brightlands Presentation Award was given to Geert Noordzij (Maastricht University) with his presentation ‘Small-scale screening of novel biobased monomers: The curious case of 1,3-cyclopentanediol’. Both members of the Biobased Horizontal project.  The € 500,- prizes were awarded by Emiel Staring, Managing Director of Chemelot InSciTe.
