Congrats to our spinoff Medace BV for being selected as one of the Dutch national Changemakers by Change Inc.!
Business platform Change Inc is putting together a community of Dutch Changemakers: leaders of companies who are convinced that producing differently is necessary to balance prosperity and well-being. Daniëlle Curfs and her company Medace BV were one of the few in the healthcare category to come out on top as national Changemaker in the Scale Up category! In a race with 2 other scale ups, both the expert jury and the public votes turned out to be in favour of Medace.

Medace arose from the experiences of Chemelot InSciTe. Here, researchers and entrepreneurs work side-by-side to bring promising biomedical concepts out of the academic setting and translate them into new clinical products for First in Man studies. Their needs for support in the process from patent to patient led to the development of a tailor made service model, which was used as the foundation of Medace. The InSciTe employees who were involved in the development of the model (Daniëlle Curfs and Kurt Gielen), have realized new biomedical facilities in Maastricht and continued as an entrepreneur in Medace. Since the opening of the Medace facilities in 2020, Medace has already had seventeen companies under their roof, all of which are developing medical devices and cell therapies.
Sustainability integration in business approach
In a podcast with the renowned Dutch journalist Paul van Liempt, Daniëlle Curfs explains how sustainability is integrated in Medace's business approach. Not only by sharing facilities and training people, but also by efficiently using cleanrooms.
