On March 27th InSciTe celebrates its 2-year anniversary, a good time to reflect on where we stand and what we have achieved so far. Last year we started organizing a ‘Roadshow’ to inform our stakeholders on the status of the goals we defined in the business plan of InSciTe.

We kicked of the roadshow with presenting InSciTe for the Provincie Limburg. During a 2 –hour meeting attended by 7 delegates of the Provincie Limburg, we explained on what we have accomplished so far, the learnings and insights we gained in the process and how the current project portfolios is doing. The progress in the biobased and biomedical programs was illustrated by a video created in our facilities starring our researchers (this is the video). After the meeting ‘Provinciesecretaris’ Jan Smeelen commented:

“The presentations by the InSciTe management gave me and my colleagues a good idea of where Chemelot InSciTe currently stands and which promises for the future it holds. We are especially interested in the further exploration of the options for valorization of the research results”.

Based on the successful completion of the first phase of InSciTe: getting the institute and the programs started the Provincie Limburg allocated their 2nd investment tranche of M€ 12. With this InSciTe can continue to build and grow as a successful translational research & valorization institute.

The next stop for the roadshow was for the Board of Directors and the Executive Board of the University and University Medical Center of Maastricht end of January 2017. Again, an inspiring, interactive session which was followed by a visit of Rector Magnificus Rianne Letschert to our facilities the week after. After the visit, Rector Magnificus Rianne Letschert commented the following:

‘I recently visited one of our fascinating institutes at the Brightlands campus at Chemelot, InSciTe. I was briefed about the innovative work they conduct in the field of biobased,- and biomedical materials. The research they conduct in close cooperation with business partners focuses on solutions for the sustainable health of an ageing population and for the sustainable production of chemicals and materials. I was particularly impressed to see that InSciTe truly enables entrepreneurship, expertise, experimentation and education in an open innovation’ network. I highly recommend to visit their premises, in particular the lab facilities and the pilot plants; a whole new world of research, education and entrepreneurship into sustainable development opens up!'
